Mozzarella-Stuffed Turkey Meatballs

These mozzarella-stuffed turkey meatballs are a delicious and healthier twist on a classic comfort food, perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground turkey, lean (93% lean)
  • 1 cup breadcrumb (Italian seasoned)
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 Tbsp. fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp. dried oregano
  • 1 tsp. onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 4 oz. fresh mozzarella cheese, cubed

  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • Olive oil, for drizzling

Method
 

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, garlic, oregano, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Crack in the egg and mix gently until combined and sticky.
  3. Flatten a handful of meat mixture, place a mozzarella cube in the center, wrap, and form into a ball.
  4. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Sear meatballs in an oiled skillet until browned, pour marinara over them, and bake for 20-25 minutes until cooked through.
  5. Let meatballs rest for a few minutes before serving over spaghetti or with marinara sauce.

Notes

These meatballs can be refrigerated for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months. Reheat gently in marinara sauce.
