  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon maple extract

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • maple sugar (optional, for rolling)

Method
 

  1. Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add maple syrup, eggs, and maple extract; mix until combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually incorporate into the wet mixture without overmixing.
  4. Refrigerate the dough for at least one hour before baking.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  6. Shape the dough into balls and roll in maple sugar if desired. Place on prepared baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are golden brown.
  8. Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
