  • 1 Tbsp. baking powder
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp. nutmeg
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. milk (for glaze)
  • ½ tsp. vanilla extract (for glaze)
  • a pinch cinnamon (for garnish)

  • Cast-iron skillet 10-inch skillet is ideal for frying

  • Deep-fry thermometer

Method
 

  1. Begin by peeling and coring the medium-sized apples. Chop them into small, bite-sized pieces.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and granulated sugar.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Slowly pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring gently. Fold in the chopped apples.
  5. In a skillet, heat oil over medium heat to 350°F. Drop tablespoon-sized dollops of batter into the hot oil.
  6. Fry the fritters for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove and drain on paper towels.
  7. Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract for the glaze. Drizzle over cooled fritters and garnish with cinnamon.
